January Rains

The rain has finally arrived. Combined with the rising temperatures, we are getting quite a lot of moving water in the stream. It is calling for rain all day today & tomorrow. The upside- I can finally see some grass again!

The ducks & geese have been to the edge of the pond, but none have gone near the raging rapids of Richford. They seem quite content to scratch through the last of the garden beds and flap around.

I do hope the spring house doesn't float away, but now I remember why I didn't bother to paint it last summer.

The greenhouse is in the 50's but I'm not ready to get things started there just yet. We're still in planning mode and I am doing research, research & more research. Who knew I would be having deep conversations about beardless barley and naked oats?  (Please weigh in if you have an opinion!)

Keep thinking "Spring" and it will soon be here. But, for now, I'll be inside with my seed catalogs.

peace,

shannon
